WHAT DOES A BASE PRICE FRAME GET YOU?
Base price frame gets you a full custom frame built to your size using mixed brand medium grade/level double butted tube set. I build frames using True Temper, Columbus, Dedacciai, PCD Heavy Mettle, Nova, and some small pieces are SG 4130. Tube set will be picked out to work best for your bike, based on your size, and what type of riding the bike will be used for most. Base price includes a single color, single stage powdercoat finish, i wouldn't consider it a "show quality" finish, more of a 5ft. finish, take a step away and it looks pretty good, get close and you can see some flaws, but for most MTB's the finish is fine, since it should be out getting covered in dirt/mud anyway, if you want your frame raw and/or have a "friend" that's a painter, that's not a problem, i will take a little off the price (contact me for exact amount) Or if you want a custom paint/powdercoated with a nicer finish, contact me, and we can go over other options and prices. Base frame includes normal braze ons, like cable routing, H20 bosses (2 sets, DT and ST). Rack mounts ARE NOT included in the Base price/base bike, but if you want them i won't add any $$ but make sure you tell me, you wan them. Base frame get you 1 brake setup, (disk or V/canti, not both) if you want both that's fine, I will also do that for no extra fee, just let me know you want both, or you won't get them. Base frame (tigged or fillet brazed) also gets either a external butted seat tube, or a external sleeve brazed on/over the seat tube, simply to make a little stronger, longer lasting frame, the sleeve version, can be custom cut to add extra detail to the frame, Base price will get a choice of fairly basic cuts, a little extra $ can get more custom cut/design.
Additional info: TIGGED, braze ons will be brazed on, not Tigged, dropouts, may also be brazed on depending on dropout choice, (i think brazed on looks better most the time) Seat Stays may also be fillet brazed on a tigged frame, depending on final choices.
Additional info: LUGGED, price will vary by a lot of things, like lug choice, using "off the shelf" lugs, or custom cutting/shaping a "off the shelf lug set" and use of regular steel or stainless steel lugs.
Additional info: MEDIUM GRADE/LEVEL TUBESET. Pretty much what it sounds like, they are good tubes, but not the top of the line, I personally prefer a Medium grade tube, they do weigh a little more (due to needing to use a slightly thicker wall, the steel it's self don't really weigh any more, there is just more of it) Medium grade tubes/frames can, and often do last longer, than a higher end tube, due to the high end tubes, being stronger, which is harder, and there for a little more brittle, and on top of that the tube is usually thinner. Average weight on a Medium grade 29er is in the 4.5-5.5 Lb range, depending on all the other choices, and frame size.

CUSTOM LUGS
Custom made lugs (see lugged 29er on current frames page) custom lugs are Tig welded pieces of 4130 tubing can be made to work with any angle and tubing size, +100$ per lug for a basic 2 point cut/shape, more detailed design = more $$
CURVED TUBES
Curved main tubes (front triangle) are strait gauge 4130 so they do add a little bit of weight, I have a couple different diameter of tubes I can use depending on your size, Base charge will be for a standard curved tube, custom bent radius is possible, but will be more $$ since I will have to bend it at that time. I can do "mid tubes" (under the top tube) in strait or curved also if you want, this will limit the DT choices a little more, since it's best to keep the weld areas in the thicker butted part of the tube, in some cases, it may require a Strait gauge 4130 DT, Twin (side by side) top tubes, are also available they can go from the head tube, to the dropouts if you want, curved or strait. Tubes can also go from dropouts to near ST TT intersection, and then curve back to the DT, like a old cruiser. Contact me for pricing on all the Twin tube frames and designs. Curved Seat tubes are a 2 piece deal, bottom curved piece is brazed to a normal seat tube, so you can still use a standard size seat post, and have normal adjust ability. Curved seat tubes, do however change the seat tube angle, so frame sizing is more important, the Saddle will end up in the same place it would with the "designed to" seat tube angle, but if you have to raise or lower the seat, it will change more front to back than it normally would, some of this extra movement can be taken up with the adjustment in seat rails.
